Hello All of Our Past Riders, Volunteers, and Friends!.

Fifteen years ago, when the idea came into my head to start a week long bike ride, the intention was that I could convince the state tourism department to run it and I would help solicitate volunteers to support it, but the state doesn’t run events, however they were a great support.  For the past 15 years, besides partnering with the YMCA in the early years, the responsibility of creating and managing the event has been my job with the great help from my buddy Bret Tinker, the energetic bubbling personality of Becky Riddle and of course our fantastic volunteers.

The hardest part about running a ride like Ride Idaho is finding new routes each year in a state with limited paved roads. The second challenge is listening to all of the participants tell me about all the cool trips they took that year and how many more they have coming up, wow!  Ok!  It finally sunk in, and my bucket list is overflowing, so I have decided to take a year hiatus! Ironically, 6 months ago I didn’t know what that word meant and now it’s a big part of my vocabulary.

I truly want to thank everyone that has been a part of Ride Idaho over the past years. It’s been a great ride, we’ve had great times, created great friendships, lasting memories and it couldn’t have been done without your participation.

Have a great year and we hope to see you back in 2021

Cheers,

Earl Grief
